CHIPPING SODBURY TOWN U18 10 WOTTON ROVERS U18 1 In near perfect conditions for football the spectators watched a game where a young Wotton side was outmuscled by an older, physically stronger side. During the first 10 minutes of the game there was no indication of the way the game would unfold. Sodbury opened their account after 7 minutes with Charlie Davies finding the back of the net but within 3 minutes the scores were level with Wotton playing themselves out of defence down the right-hand side and crossing the ball into the path of Joe Sands who slotted the ball past the Sodbury keeper into the goal. The game then enter a 15minute period where neither team established superiority but it was plan to see that it was only a matter of time before the older Sodbury team took control and they went on to score four more goals before half time, three for Charlie Davis and one for Tyler Dacres. In this period Wotton did create a few opportunities but failed to take them. Following the interval Sodbury picked up the game where they had left off and in the next 20 minutes scored a further 4 goals, two from Kacy Brown and a goal each for Charlie Davis and Alfie Harper. The game then went through a period where neither team were able to find their scoring boots and it wasn’t until the dying minutes of the game that Kacy Brown scored Sodbury’s tenth goal and his hat-trick. Credit must be given to the Young Wotton players who never gave up trying and as the season progresses I am sure that they will get stronger and improve. This win keeps Sodbury at the top of the North Division table followed closely by Mangotsfield. Report - Ken Howitt |
