Gloucestershire Midweek Floodlit League – U18s

Longlevens U18s 1  Chipping Sodbury Town FC  U18s 2

Star player: Ben Ashpole

CSTFC U18s recorded their second win of the season with a hard fought three points at Longlevens.

The Sods dominated the opening 30 minutes and were rewarded when Josh Pandolfino scored his third goal in two games. With 21 minutes played Josh pressured the Longleven fullback winning the ball on the edge of the penalty area. Shrugging off his opponents attempts at a challenge he scored with a low shot past the onrushing keeper.
Just a few minutes earlier the Sods had been unlucky not to take the lead when the officials failed to spot a close range shot that crossed the goal line after it had bounced off the underside of the cross bar and hit the back of the net before returning into play.
The away side continued to press for a second and created several opportunities however their hosts managed to hold out to the break and a chance to regroup.

The second half began in driving rain and the hosts immediately threatened. After just five minutes of the Longlevens equalised after Sodbury had failed to clear from a corner and the close range effort left keeper Joe Stott with no chance of making the save.
With mounting pressure Ben Ashpole at the centre of the Sods defence marshalled his back line superbly. As the half progressed both sides struggled to create with defences and midfield on top.
With four of the five minutes of added on time played Sodbury won a corner and when Longlevens failed to clear their lines Matt Janes was on hand to secure all three points for the Sods.
