Chipping Sodbury Town 0
Exmouth Town 3
18th Jan 2020 Toolstation Western League Premier Division
A contender for goal of the season was all that separated the sides at the break with both sides unable to secure a foothold in a half that offered much endeavour but little if any entertainment for the on looking supporters. On 13 minutes Exmouth’s Jordan Harris spotted that Archie Watts in the home goal was on the edge of his area and with a quick look up he lobbed the keeper from 40 yards out. Up until that point and for the remainder of the first half the teams were evenly matched with defences largely on top.
Third placed Exmouth Town came into this league tie with a run of four straight wins and they were quick to add to their lead in the second half when just two minutes in Harris scored his second with a 20 yard deflected shot that left Watts stranded. With Exmouth on the front foot Jimmy Hinds added a third three minutes later when he was unchallenged at a corner to give his side an unassailable lead.
Despite the introduction of most of their substitutes the Sods were unable to break down a well drilled Exmouth defensive line and the score remained unchanged.
