Yet Again we grabbed a draw out of the jaws of victory. No Surprise there then !
3 - 1 up thanks to goals from "Quick Fire" Rich Pomphrey, the increasingly deadly scoring ability of Tom Clarke and one off the shin from the penalty spot by Captain Lee Payne ensured what we thought was three easy points in the bag.
Oh No ! No No No..... We hadn't allowed for the great defending abilities of "Diego Duff" and the total inaccuracy from the spot of the "Increasingly Deadly Tom Clarke" both rose to the occasion and let the Wanderers right back in to it with great ineptness !! But still a valuable point said teh manager....Lying to keep up moral.
All change then for the next game, where i was missing and "Diego Duff", not Damien, took the reigns.
Talk about a new broom sweeping clean. Duffer and his hard-line tactics ensured the team went into the game under no illusions as to what was expected.
Goals from the "Increasingly Deadly but NOT from the spot Tom Clarke", "Quick Fire" and the flamboyant Martin Panetta, gave us a great 3 - 0 win and three great points. Well done "Diego" and all the lads for a great result ! "Man of the match" for the game, went to 2 players, Steve"Old but Steady"Wolfe and Steve"Young but Wobbly"Martin. Well done to you both. It was also a great pleasure to have Kevin May back in the team and no-one should underestimate the influence he has on the pitch for us. Well done everyone and best of luck for today.
I read an article about Claudio Ranieri when he was manager in the Italian league. He was nicknamed "The Tinker Man" because he couldn't stop changing his team and the formation that he played. Apparently he now sticks largely to the same team and same formation almost every game and Chelsea's current position shows it definitely pays dividends.
To keep the same team on a Saturday every week, winning and with no injuries or absentees would be ideal, unfortunately that just isn't possible.
This means, as players you have a duty to try and play at your best when selected but equally react with a certain amount of positivism when you're on the bench.
Everybody wants to play, we know that but some people have to sit it out now and then.
Diego Duff kindly took control of the team recently and we came away with a nice little 3 - 0 win. This, i felt, was soured slightly by the reactions of some players both before and during the game.
Duffers decision mirrored exactly what i would have done in his position with those players at my disposal and he has my 100% support both for last week and today away to Frampton.
Don't forget you're meant to be enjoying yourselves, so lighten up, keep trying your best and we will definitely reap the rewards at the end of the season.
