If you were doing the pools, Sodbury Reserves look to be a banker score draw on your coupon. At the moment we can't buy that winning goal ! Although i've tried to rectify that by bringing in the human goal machine - Richie Pomphrey.
He duly scored on his debut against 5 OB Reserves and could well have had a couple more.
I put his miss in the second half down to the fact his family were in the crowd watching, he must have got the jitters.
We're sort of settling down the squad of players and currently are liaising quite well with the first team, which of course is vital in the overall success of the club.
Les and myself are definitely trying to develop a full club atmosphere, we can't afford a "them and us" situation developing and i am sure with all the lads that we have here, it will definitely not become an issue.
Players from the Reserves who have taken the step up, Kev May, Tim Lawler and Paul Savage have shown they can handle it and we hope to be able to supply Les with a few more throughout the season.
Other lads who deserve a mention, Roger Smith in goal has done well and seems more confident every week. Lee Payne has been a "Steady Eddie" for us at the back and is ever present. Lastly, Sammy Winkworth has started to get more involved and has definitely begun to show us his potential but he needs to sort his hair out though, it looks a bit like "Pat Butcher's" off Eastenders !
Keep it up lads.
