Chipping Sodbury on revenge mission as Fairford stand in way of Trophy semis spot
CHIPPING Sodbury Town have revenge in mind when they go to Fairford Town for their testing GFA Challenge Trophy quarter-final match.
Hellenic Division One West leaders Fairford dumped the South Gloucestershire side out of the FA Vase with September’s 3-2 home win.
While Fairford overcame Bristol Telephones on the road with Saturday’s 3-1 success thanks to Matt Boucher, Jason Milhench and Lee Smith strikes, Sodbury were sticking six without response past shellshocked visitors Almondsbury UWE in midweek, despite fielding a “much-changed” line-up, via Jack Parker and George Box doubles and Ben Dowdell and Joshua Cann efforts.
“This is a competition we’d like to go as far as we can in but Fairford away will be tough again,” warned Sodbury supremo Karl Reese. “We lost to them in the Vase but didn’t really turn up that day and it’s a game we definitely feel we can win.”
